Every country gets it's fair share of rare birds. However, because Holland is so small and we have so many birders, rare birds get discovered a lot here. The unique pager system tells Dutch birders instantly when and where a rare bird has been found and several internet sites are geared especially to keep reporting these rarities long after they have first been discovered.

Birds are habitual creatures and rare birds are no exception to this rule, so when rarities stay around for a while, we get to know the most likely time and place to see them.

We at Birding Holland put a lot of time and effort in trying to see not only the common birds, but also the rare ones, so we can show them to you!

Rare birds that have been around for a longer period :

The Bufflehead is still around and it appears the bird will stay here for a long time. All vagrants that have stayed around during the winter seem to have left, but other vagrants have taken their place.

Currently possible are Eurasian Scops Owl (very rarely visible, but calling regularly), Red-footed Falcon and Great Reed Warbler.

If you go target birding you have a VERY good chance of seeing (some of) these birds. Please contact us for more information.
